Canal Crisis Management

An unlikely collision makes waves

Crisis can happen anywhere, even in the most unlikely of places. You would probably consider two cargo ships passing in a wide-open Suez Canal to be a no-brainer these days what with modern navigation systems and these fancy eyeball things we humans have, but, as you’ll see in the video below, there’s still plenty of room for trouble:

The consequences of this crash were actually much lighter than they could have been, especially considering the damage a tumbling container could do to anyone caught below, but it will make waves that affect a large number of organizations. From the operators of both ships, to the organizations whose product was in transit, to the many other ships that were delayed (and the businesses who would be receiving late shipments) as a result of the incident, the impact of this one mistake will have some serious reach.
