The crisis management wisdom of Aristotle

It’s always incredible to read a statement made thousands of years ago and find it completely relevant to your life today. This week’s Crisis Management Quotable, from famed Greek philosopher Artistotle, is definitely one of those.

“Think as wise men do, but speak as the common people do.” – Aristotle

When it comes to crisis communication, using industry jargon, technical terms, or confusing language is a quick way to lose your audience. And, considering they’re going to go listen to someone who probably doesn’t have your best interests in mind instead, you really don’t want that happening. Don’t take lofty tones, but instead use the type of language that leaves everyone feeling like you could be peers, and find your communication growing more effective.
